I have a satellite dish at my house that is likely connected properly and working ok. Unfortunately, it's blocked by trees on the grounds of my compound, so I have no signal. No signal = no Olympics, which is about the only thing I really care to watch here anyway.
So I read today that 2.3 BILLION people watched the opening ceremony on Friday. And I was even off work while they were going on. But did I get to watch???
Apparently a contract is being negotiated to cut down the trees on my property, and Abel the awesome facilities guy at the embassy is doing the best he can to speed it up. Unfortunately, Africans on African time aren't as concerned with my ability to watch the Olympics as I am. I guess I can't blame them really, but still annoying...
In positive news, I should get a car this week so I can drive somewhere else and watch them. As soon as I figure out where, that is. Shockingly, haven't found a good sports bar in Lusaka yet.
